The school run woods

When we got our first choice for Elle's school place, i was over the moon. Firstly, because it is such an amazing school and we knew Elle would thrive there, but also, because we live right in the middle of the town centre, i knew the walk to the school would be wonderful. It is a 40 minute walk for Elle up a main road and hill, but to one side is a wood that then backs on to the abbey that i take many pictures at. The meadows, lake, old abbey and horse fields. The woods between the road and the abbey is off the path and is full right now of acorns and conkers. You wouldn't believe that we were right next to a busy road. I do love this about our neighbourhood. We have such pretty places right in the town centre. This wood is perfect as it will teach Elle all about the seasons and how it changes and effects nature. We have been talking about why leaves fall off in autumn and about frost, snow and all the different types of trees. She has been exploring and collecting conkers and acorns (she calls it squirrel food). She doesn't realise, but she is learning on the way and from school everyday. Mia is starting to ask questions too and when the spring and summer comes, i am excited to explore these woods on the way to pick Elle up with just Mia. I cannot wait to teach her about nature as well. She seems to love being surrounded by it just as much as her sister.
