A calm house can equal to a calm mind

Many of us are striving for calm in our lives, wouldn’t you agree? The time to really be able to relax and rejuvenate in our homes, where we are supposed to be. However, for some, that is harder than others. Your home is a place that soaks up energy, it is a place that emulates your mind, and if things are particularly messy and not so calm in your home I guarantee you will start to feel it somewhere in your mind. This can then be triggers for anxiety you may already struggle with or stress boiling over. I wanted to share with you some of the ways you can create a calm house. I hope it gives you the inspiration to make some changes in your home.

Start with any unnecessary clutter

One of the first things to tackle would be the mess or any clutter you have unnecessarily in your home. An untidy house can give you and untidy mind and have you unable to see things clearly. There is bound to be things that you no longer love, want or need in your home so you may want to consider donating to charity or selling online on platforms like eBay. You don’t need to worry about getting larger pieces from one place to another either as you can use websites like for prices and options. This can help you to really clear your home and only display and keep the things you need and ultimately love. It is a minimalism process that can be extremely refreshing.

Create the right ambience with light and scent

The next thing to consider would be creating the right ambience in your home and one of the best ways to do that is through candle light and scent. Scent can take you right back to a moment, it might be lavender and remind you of the time you spent in lavender fields. It could be mint, giving you inspiration for your herb garden. Whatever scent works for you, spread it around your home. Scented candles are great for this but also reed diffusers and the use of essential oils can also help. Websites like have some great suggestions.

Fresh flowers can really add to the effect

I love flowers and there won’t be a time where there won’t be any in my home. I also think they can really make a home feel more fresh and relaxing. You get a natural scent from them, the colours can add to the way your home looks, and it just gives you that feeling of being amongst nature in your own home.

Natural light and fresh air

Finally, natural light and fresh air are the the last two ingredients I would suggest to help your home feel calm. The natural light is good for your anyway, but the fresh air can help you to feel clean, cool and calm. Open the windows and let the fresh air in, especially first thing in the morning. It can really help set your day off in the right way.

I hope that these tips help you to create a calm house.
