If you have followed my blog or my instagram over the last 6 months, you will know that we have been living with my mum and her partner since September so we can save up for a new home. Our previous landlord wanted to sell up so it was a great opportunity to be able to get a little cottage. I shall be writing a whole post on this journey but we are now in the position that we are putting in an application for a beautiful cottage. Everytime I think about it, my heart keeps racing really fast. I cannot wait to move and be in a little village in the countryside because we have been in the town centre for the last 10 years and even though our home was a beautiful Victorian townhouse, the road and noise was grinding me down. Now I can garden in peace and walk outside and be surrounded by thatched cottages and fields. It really is a dream come true.

Within these past 6 months, we have really been looking at our finances. Saving and tying up previous bills has made us look closely at what we are spending and the deals we had. We had deals for convenience and mostly stuck with the companies that were set up when we moved. I didn't really understand about deals and how we could save money and I left it all to my husband but now we have embarked on this saving journey and been looking at ways to save and how we can move forward, it has been a real eye opener. This will also help us budget and shop around for better deals on all our bills and our phone deals soon. As well as looking at phone deals for us, where you we can get amazing deals from T-Mobile, we will be getting Elle her first phone this summer just before she moves up to senior school so will be looking at sim only deals for her. This sort of deal would be perfect for her because then we can set an amount that she can spend on her phone and we don't have to commit to another contract for her. Both Gilles and I have old phones that we had on older contracts so we won't need to pay out for a phone within a contract so it works out a great price so having to pay just for calls and texts would be so much easier and this will also help us budget.

Sometimes one door shuts but the amount of opportunity that can come from that is amazing. I really thought that us having to leave our home was the end of the world but it has allowed us to save, to find a beautiful cottage and have honest conversations about finances and our future. We have been able to pay off previous bills and we are now moving forward with a clean slate and a better understanding of how to budget and how to save.
